This year is already looking action packed and adventure filled. With the main event being the Highest Dinner Party on the North Col of Everest in May, there will be other trips going on that I look forward to telling you about.
Next month I’ll be jetting up North to the Arctic once again where myself and my good friend KP (Katherine Pears) will be doing a week long ski expedition on the cheap. It will be fun to share how Arctic expeds don’t have to eat away all your savings. I met KP on my first ever Arctic expedition in Svalbard 2011. We shared ten weeks together and a year after we completed the Haute Route (Chamonix to Zermatt). We have been talking about going back to the Arctic for years and as they always do, the decision was made and shook on after a few to many wines… Now’s the time, I can’t wait!
I’ll be going back and forth to the mountains of Britain and the Alps prior to Everest to make sure my body and mind is ready for the beasting I’m sure it will get. I’ve never been up to 7000m before and from everyone who’s been there and higher, they say it’s a whole other ball game from 6000m – 6500m! Slow and steady wins the race at that height.
I’ll get back from Everest in June and I know my day work will be busy but at the same time I’m organising logistics for a group to head to Denali. It’s going to be fun re-living it. I’ve said enough times on here how much I fell in love with that mountain.
Finally, if things work out, there will be a very exciting project at the end of the year, but I can’t share too much on that one until it’s done. Mystery, I know!
So 2018 is looking good. All of this is only a fraction of what I would love to be doing but alas, time and money must mean we spread these adventures out… I’m fine with that too. Meanwhile, whilst all of this is going on, I should be moving off friends sofas (I’ve been ‘homeless/without home’) for 3 months now and soon I should be moving into a house again which will be a relief!
I hope everyone has kick started 2018 with a bang, and make sure to keep that bang all year.
